The Seventh Annual Denver Golf Expo

This years show boasts a highly interactive show which begins Friday January 28 through Sunday, January 30 comprising over 120 exhibitors at the Denver Merchandise Mart Pavilion located one mile north of the I-70 and I-25 interchange. FMS, Inc. is the official host of the largest consumer golf show in Colorado and the surrounding eight-state region.

Show attendees will have an opportunity to improve their golf games through free seminars and free swing tips provided by PGA and LPGA professionals. The 2000 Expo is special because this year Harold Swash, Europe's putting guru (Seve Ballesteros, Ian Woosnam and Sandy Lyle were all students) will be offering free putting tips and individual instruction in the C-Groove Putting Area David Williams the highly entertaining swing master will be presenting ongoing programs throughout the three-day event. Also, to continue the interactive mode of this year's Expo, Brad Ott, licensed physical therapist and Director of the Colorado Body Balance Clinics will discuss the importance of flexibility and proper posture at address with audience participation during his presentations. "These and many more seminars will be given to help showgoers improve their golf skills and lower their scores" stated Stan Fenn the show director. "They not only have great philosophies but also use the latest in technology to help golfers learn the game." Other presentations will include Colorado PGA Professionals talking about the game and its ever-changing growth as well as entertaining seminars dealing with the ever-complicated rules of golf.

For the competitive-at-heart the show will have the Family Golf Long Drive Contest and the C-Groove Putting Challenge where entrants will have a chance to win several great prizes totaling over $15,000. The long drive competition will have separate divisions for all ages and gender. Family Golf Centers is the club sponsor for the long drive competition and will be giving away a number of prizes to daily and overall winners. In the Putting area three qualifying holes will be used, each 60 feet long. Anyone who makes a hole-in-one will be entered into daily drawings for the finals to putt for $5,000 cash on Sunday from 100 feet and all acers in the qualifying will be awarded a new putter, golf vacations and other golf related prizes. The first 500 entrants in the C-Groove Putting Challenge will receive a 2 for 1 green fee certificate redeemable at the championship layout at Canterberry Golf Course in Parker and The Broadlands in Brighton. These special competitions benefit the Association of Disabled American Golfers.

Another fun activity in the show is the "Demo Days Program" that allows attendees to try out the latest in club technology from national manufacturers' reps. Adams Golf and Dimension Z Clubfitting Systems are a few of the companies participating. In the Grand Prize Drawing (no purchase required) held on Sunday, two round-trip airline tickets sponsored by Frontier Airlines, always affordable, along with many other golf related prizes will be awarded to the lucky winners.

Admission for the 1998 Denver Golf Expo is $8 for adults, $6 for seniors 50 and over, $4 for kids ages 10-17 and children under 10 are admitted free. Show hours are Friday from 10a.m.to 6pm, Saturday from 9a.m. to 6 p.m.and Sunday from 9a.m. to 2p.m.
