. As the
months go by, you and I will explore golf,
finance, business, marketing, and other
real estate related topics. As these first
paragraphs have no doubt revealed, I'm no
Hemingway. I need all the help I can get,
so if you have any stories, ideas,
questions or concerns feel free to email
me at info@golfandluxuryhomes.com. I'd
love to hear from you. One of
my goals is to periodically give you an
in-depth look at some unique developments
and the homes in them. Only two or three
miles from my home in Monument, Colorado,
is one such community called High Pines.
Just a mile to I-25 and 25 minutes the
tech center, High Pines is ideally located
between Castle Rock and Colorado Springs.
To me, the best thing about the location
is its close proximity to several fine
golf courses. High Pines is just a couple
blocks north of the Woodmoor Pines Country
Club, five minutes south to the Gleneagle
Golf Club, five minutes east to King's
Deer Golf Club and if you're really
ambitious, you may have to drive all of
ten to fifteen minutes north to find the
Bear Dance, Red Hawk and Plum Creek golf
courses. A High
Pines Corp development, the High Pines
community features front-range views,
trees, rolling hills and mesas. It feels
like the country. You may need a bit of
faith to believe cities are nearby.
High
Pines Corp is a prominent developer in the
area and the owner brings over 50 years of
real estate development experience. High
Pines combines custom and semi-custom
one-half acre lots with a separate area
for luxury patio homes. The quiet
neighborhood of single family homes ranges
from the high three hundreds to over six
hundred thousand dollars. The detached
patio homes will only number twenty-nine
and is already in its second filing. These
popular high quality, maintenance free
patio homes are being built by the Barnes
Brothers who have a combined 73 years of
building experience. According
to Carrie Johnson, "Demand has been high
and most of the patios homes have been
pre-sales". Carrie handles all of the real
estate transactions for High Pines. She
has been selling real estate in the
Monument area for 23 years. I have had the
distinct pleasure of working with Carrie
on an unrelated piece of real estate and
can assure you that Carrie is
knowledgeable, experienced and a real
peach to work with. On a
recent visit to High Pines, Carrie was
kind enough to introduce me to one of her
favorite builders - Tom Morin, of Morin
Construction. Tom is currently building a
"spec" home on one of the custom home
lots. Tom has been building homes since
the seventies. Morin Construction, a
family owned business, was formed in 1999.
I asked Tom what differentiates him from
other builders. "I am very hands-on when
it comes to building homes. I frame each
home myself, and except for electrical and
plumbing, I am intimately involved in
every aspect of the building process". As
a result, Tom builds only a few homes a
year. "I'm not interested in becoming so
large that I lose the control I currently
enjoy over the construction," said Tom. I
recently viewed this upscale stone and
stucco ranch home and came away very
impressed. Architecturally the home
features staggered rooflines, arched
entries, coffered ceilings, and a huge
west facing covered deck that allows for
some awesome views of the front range.
Those views continue from an expansive
kitchen that includes large granite slab
counters, knotty cherry cabinets, a double
oven, six burner stove and tile floors. A
mason fireplace and carpeted floors
inhabit the main floor master. The
downstairs features a large great room
concept with a study and quite possibly
the largest wet bar area I have ever seen.
Like the kitchen, it includes granite
counters and tile floors. At just under
five thousand square feet, this 4 bedroom,
three and one-half bath home sells for
$489,900 and is due for completion in
September. Not
too long ago one of Tomís homes was
featured on the front cover of Builder
Contractor Magazine. The 1.4 million
dollar home was built in Whisper Canyon
just a stones throw to The Ridge at Castle
Pines North. The home in High Pines
incorporates many of the same features of
that amazing home. For
you folks that always dreamed of a piece
of Colorado, but ended up with pavement
and traffic, you might want to consider
High Pines. You'd better hurry though!
There are only four custom home sites
available. Each has a view of Pikes Peak.
If luxury patio homes are your ticket, you
can't go wrong at High Pines. |
