Colorado's Golf Public Thankful for the Opportunity to Play Plum Creek

Effective January 1, Plum Creek Golf and Country Club returned to its original concept as a private, "Members Only" club. For several years, management opened the course to the public, while they continued to build their private membership. It provided an opportunity for the average golfer to "walk in the foot steps" of some of the legends of golf. Originally designed by legendary Pete Dye as a Tournament Players Club (TPC), it hosted the Senior PGA tour for several years as one of its regularly scheduled stops. Players like Arnold Palmer, Lee Trevino, Chi Chi Rodriquez, Gary Player, Sam Snead, and many other current and future Golf Hall Of Fame members competed every year on one of the best links style courses in the country. I am sure that all of the golfers that took advantage of the opportunity to play at Plum Creek are a little down over this news, but I am sure they are also thankful for having had the opportunity to play the course.

Plum Creek's private membership has continued to increase, and the club's management recently decided there was a prevailing willingness among the members and ownership to make the transition back to a private club. Plum Creek's staff is confident the transition will offer an increased standard of service, while allowing the club to maintain its full recreational atmosphere.

One thing, however, will not change; Plum Creek's golf course will continue as one of Colorado's finest, much as it has since it was built in 1984. Consistently ranked as one of the state's best golf courses in Colorado Golf Magazine and other publications, the 18-hole, 7,107 yard championship course will challenge any golfer, while still providing a fair test to virtually all skill levels. The classic Scottish Links-style layout includes native rough areas that contrast with lush, bent-grass fairways.

Plum Creek's final three holes, which are lined by lakes and large bunkers, and usually play into the prevailing wind, are considered among the best three finishing holes in the state. Aside from the unique layout, Plum Creek has enjoyed a reputation as one of the best maintained courses around.

Membership at Plum Creek offers an exclusive atmosphere to bring family, guests, and business clients. In addition to the top flight golf course, club members enjoy full use of the indoor and outdoor practice ranges, golf shop, aquatic center, tennis center, tennis courts, a full-service bar and grill, banquet and meeting facilities, and spacious locker rooms.

Plum Creek is offering a 20 percent down payment of the club's initiation fee, and monthly dues will be waived until April 1. Also, the initiation fee is 50 percent refundable if a member leaves the club for any reason.
