As
you arrive at Heritage Eagle Bend
Golf & Country Club in
Aurora, you keep looking for a
sign near the club house that
might say "Members Only," or
"Private Parking." And as you
traverse the Arthur Hills
designed golf course with plush
fairways that are as generous as
the greens are challenging, you
can't help but feel like a guest
of an exclusive facility. And
later, as you sit outside on the
clubhouse patio (or you think
"club mansion" would be a better
term) enjoying an incredible meal
or after-round beverage from the
Eagle's Nest restaurant while
taking in an incredible view of
the Front Range, you think to
yourself, "This is how the rich
and famous must spend their
evenings."
Well,
it's certainly how you can spend
your evenings - even if you're
not rich and famous. Heritage
Eagle Bend is open to the public,
and it's surprisingly affordable.
Tee time reservations can be made
up to seven days in advance, and
annual non-resident memberships
are available to the public as
well. And new this year, a
reduced rate will be offered to
Aurora residents as
well.
Heritage
Eagle Bend was developed in 2000
by U.S. Homes as an integral part
of their new active adult
community. Along with the 18-hole
championship course, the facility
includes an expansive 35,000
square foot clubhouse, a grass
driving range and full practice
facility. It is managed by
Scottsdale, Arizona-based Western
Golf Properties whose
cornerstones of management
philosophy are course conditions
and customer service - both of
which you can expect the best of
when you make a tee time at
Heritage Eagle Bend. The course
itself is always in tremendous
shape, and Arthur Hills designed
it to offer something for
everyone. The low-handicappers
will find the ultimate 7100-yard
challenge from the tips, but
there are four sets of tees that
span up to the 5000-yard forward
tees, making the course enjoyable
for players of all abilities. As
Director of Golf Matt Malloy
explains it, "The course is not
going to kill you, but it won't
give up a low score either. It's
a fair golf course with generous
fairways and challenging greens."
The course design offers good
variety from hole to hole,
including direction, length and
elevation. The signature hole is
the 15th hole, a 190-yard
downhill par-3. Club selection
here is a must, as you must carry
the water hazard protecting the
front of the green which is 40
yards wide, but only 15 yards
deep. If you hit it just a little
long, you'll be digging out your
sand wedge for your second shot.
Oh, and try to be accurate. The
right club can still leave you a
100-foot birdie putt.
After
your final putt on 18, your group
must stop in the Eagle's Nest
restaurant for your post-round
recap. Enjoy indoor or outdoor
seating with a full service bar,
and be sure to order a sumptuous
lunch or dinner from their
wide-ranging menu. In addition to
the Eagle's Nest, the impressive
Heritage Eagle Bend clubhouse
also features a ballroom that
seats 300 patrons, and multiple
banquet and conference rooms.
There's no better place to host a
corporate golf tournament,
business lunch, banquet or
wedding. Be sure to take
advantage of Heritage Eagle Bend
while it is still available to
the public, because it will
become private once the real
estate is sold out. But for now,
it is your own private "country
club" without the initiation fee
or membership dues.
