Casablanca
Resort, An Island in the Mesquite
Desert
Just 77 miles north of Las
Vegas and less than an hour south
of St. George, Utah is the small
dusty desert town of Mesquite,
Nevada. What once was a truck
stop set among the desert mesas
and the Virgin River, is now a
destination vacation spot for
golfers and gamblers.
CasaBlanca is the premier
Mesquite resort and has something
for everyone. Here is a quick
look why the CasaBlanca can
deliver all that you would desire
for your next golf vacation. It
seems that most successful
vacations will include its share
of water, sand, green grass and
bright lights. You will know you
have arrived when you pull into
the palm trees and cascading
waterfalls of this island in the
desert.
First Class Hotel At the
CasaBlanca you can pick your
luxury. Whatever your comfort
level you will feel at home.
Choose from 700 deluxe rooms, 18
suites with Jacuzzi tubs or for a
little more privacy reserve a
poolside bungalow with Jacuzzi
tubs.
But it's just not the
accommodations that make
CasaBlanca your vacation spot. It
is also the food. The CasaBlanca
Buffet is an all you can eat
delight breakfast, lunch or
dinner. Daily specials can also
be found in the Purple Fez
Café. Don't forget to try
the lobster. If you really want a
fine dining experience then make
reservations for dinner at
Katherine's and choose from steak
and fresh seafood entrees in an
elegant and refined settling.
The hotel offers nightly
entertainment. Top performers,
both comics and nationally known
bands perform weekly in the
700-seat showroom. See headline
comedians and bands from the
60's, 70's and 80's. Want more
entertainment? Then relax, have a
drink or maybe a dance as live
musical groups entertain in the
Sky Dome Lounge. But if you are a
gambler or just like to see and
hear the lights and sounds of the
casino, then you won't be able to
sit for long before you find
yourself wanting to see the
action.
Vegas-style gaming in the
40,000 square foot casino offers
slot machines with all the latest
games, 21 live gaming tables
including single and double deck
blackjack, two crap tables, 2
roulette tables and five tables
in the live poker room. Whether
it's the sports book, nickel
slots or video poker there is
something for everyone in the
casino.
The sparkling lagoon pool with
its cascading waterfalls and
waterslide is just the answer for
hot summer days. Soak up the sun
poolside while enjoying umbrella
and frozen drinks from the bar.
If you are not the tanning type
but still want the poolside view
than gather the family together
for a little volleyball on the
sand court. After the sun goes
down, the cool desert night air
will be the perfect setting to
enjoy the new poolside
Jacuzzi.
Swimming isn't enough exercise
for you? Then bring your tennis
shorts and play a few sets on one
of three-lighted tennis courts.
Or hit the weight room with its
all-purpose weight station, stair
climbers, treadmills, stationary
bikes and free weights. Just
remember you are on vacation.
World Class Spa Vacations are
supposed to revitalize you. Sooth
what ails you, relax the mind,
body and spirit. Indulge
yourself, call the CasaBlanca Spa
from your room and make your
reservations for an hour of pure

aroma therapy and reflexology),
facials, mud baths and steam
rooms to watsu, an outdoor
yogie-style water massage and
mineral water soaking pools.
The spa incorporates clays,
mineral waters and indigenous
herbs like sage to create the
ultimate in soothing, energizing
treatments. Take the time, get
away from life, do it for your
body, for your mind and for
yourself.
Championship Golf Just a short
drive behind the resort is 18
holes of championship golf. This
Cal Olson-designed course is the
crown jewel of CasaBlanca. This
is a course to be experienced. No
two rounds will be the same. The
desert course is built with
plenty of water. The Virgin River
meanders through four or five
holes and more lake water can be
found on eight other holes. If
you are counting, that is 13
holes of the 18 with water
present. The water works. It is
an important piece to the whole.
Not only does it provide hazard
areas but also perhaps more
importantly, it provides wetland
area for the desert fowl. The
natural beauty of the course is
only enhanced by its design.
The golf course offers golfers
of all levels plenty of
challenge. The number one
criteria for the builders was
playability and with five sets of
tees providing 5,200 yards from
the forward tees to 7,011 yards
from the championship tees, the
course delivers all the elements
of a great game of golf.
You will start your round the
minute you get out of the car.
The car staff is there to unload
while pointing out the two
practice greens, practice bunkers
and driving range. If you are
playing in the heat of summer,
make sure you ask for an
air-conditioned cart. Inside the
clubhouse you will find Director
of Golf Bob Ault and his staff
ready to make your day its best.
If your swing isn't at its best,
see Bob or his staff for some
lessons.
The links style course with
the first nine running parallel
to the back nine is quite
possibly the only course in
Mesquite that you would even
consider walking. A twilight nine
in the cool evening air may just
tempt you to carry your bag.
Every course has a signature
hole and at CasaBlanca that hole
is the challenging 17th. This
454-yard, par 4 will require a
long drive and long iron shot to
the green. Surrounded by wetlands
and bunkers this hole narrows as
it comes to the green leaving
little room for error. A par here
is a great score, but don't feel
content. The closing hole is no
pushover either. Good accurate
length is again required off the
tee box. Fairway bunkers again
trap errant shots. The
amphitheater green is surrounded
by bunkers making accurate
approach shots necessary for a
chance for par. Walking off the
18th green all players are
tempted to say &endash; "Play it
again."
Vacation Adventure within a
few hours drive of the CasaBlanca
a variety of vacation
destinations are available. Drive
south and see the neon-encrusted
world of Vegas, Lake Mead and
Hoover Dam. Point north and find
Zion Canyon, Quail Creek
Reservoir and Snow Canyon. The
CasaBlanca Hotel, Casino, Spa and
Golf resort is your getaway
vacation fun.
